The sanctuary of the Great Aten Temple at Amarna held many altars piled high with offerings of food and flowers. Here, two statues of the king flank the main altar, holding trays with more offerings. Little is known about the extent to which the people of Amarna took part in the ceremonies at the temple, but certainly many of them must have been employed in supplying and preparing the offerings.
