Many artists were hard at work in Akhenaten's city, carving and painting. This drawing of a tomb relief takes us to a busy Amarna workshop. Iuty, the master sculptor--shown much larger than his assistants--paints the finishing touches on a statue of a royal princess while an apprentice watches. At the left, two more artisans work with bronze tools. The one below carves the head for a statue, while the one above shapes a curving furniture leg.
