Chariot and horses

Reign of Akhenaten, 1353–1336 B.C.
Limestone
Gift of the New Hermes Foundation. Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York

Chariots were a frequent sight on the streets of Amarna, since the royal family traveled daily from palace to palace, followed by a cavalcade of other chariots and footmen. This chariot and team of horses probably belonged to a court official.
