Akhenaten and Nefertiti

Reign of Akhenaten,
1353–1336 B.C.
Gift of the Estate of Charles
Edwin Wilbour.
Brooklyn Museum of Art,
New York

Practice pieces have been found in the ruins of sculptors' workshops at Amarna, reminding us that these artists were learning a new style. This carving of the heads of Akhenaten and Nefertiti may have been a model for artists to copy in the many relief carvings representing the king and queen.
