Sketches
of Akhenaten's head and hand Amarna, Great Palace (south section) Reign of Akhenaten,
13531336 B.C. Limestone; h. 11.6 cm, w. 13.8 cm, d. 2.3 cm Gift of the Egypt Exploration
Society. Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York These are two sketches, evidently
by the same hand, from a figure of Akhenaten in a blue crown. As this is clearly the work
of a trained draftsman, the king's face, too large for the crown and neck, suggests
intentional caricature. |
