Amen with gold inlays

Reign of Tutankhamen, 1332 - 1322 B.C.
Bronze, gold; h. 22 cm (with present mount)
The Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore
cat. 242

Finely crafted of expensive materials, this figure of the god Amen with the features of Tutankhamen was probably a temple offering from someone of high rank. The glass inlay of the eyes and the plumes of Amenšs crown are missing, but gold inlay still outlines the details of the rishi, or feathered corselet, a garment associated with kings and divine beings.
